For this project, we had a school approach us who needed to expand their teaching space and have an extra classroom, but on a lower budget than extending the main school premises. It needed to be attractive, warm, dry and available for all year use.
About the project
We have dealt with many schools, charities and clubs over the years who have been looking to create spaces for all year use but on a lower budget than building an expensive brick built extension to the main structures on site. In most of these cases we have installed fully insulated, double glazed and decorated home offices or garden rooms from our supplier The Building Adventure Co.
For this particular school it was their third building from us after previously having a slightly smaller office and a music room of the same design installed the year before. This one needed to be larger to house around 20 children for lessons most days.
The design of the building needed to be attractive as well as of a high quality specification due to its prominent location on the school grounds. The hipped roof design was chosen and painted in the green school colours that are seen and used around the rest of the site.
To create a cheerful, warm and happy atmosphere for the children and staff, the building has many double glazed windows and doors for a bright and airy classroom. The building is packed with thick insulation, making it warmer than most houses. We made the wide double doors wheelchair friendly with our low threshold doorway, while still having a good thickness of insulation in the floor. After the building was fully installed, a sloped ramp with railings was built up to the doors.
By using one of our highest specification buildings, which was constructed to full buildings regulations and planning permission, with our help this school has achieved the goal they set out to achieve for many staff & children to enjoy for many years to come.
